My friend posted this on our local forum in central IL.....pretty disturbing I say During my commute back to B/N tonight, on 55 south, I was close to Joliet, and while croozing at reasonable 75-ish, I see two HID headlights appear in my rearview....getting bigger and bigger, VERY quickly.... So, I move over to the right lane, and low and behold, an 02 Camaro SS 35th Anniv. (I noticed the paint) comes blowing by me, doing WELL over 120... it looked like I was standing still, and he passed me at 80. Then... not even 10 seconds later, I see a silver 300ZX come shooting past at roughly the same speed as the Camaro. I passed it off as a couple guys playing around on the highway with fast cars... This is before I see a fireball in the distance, and LOTS of police and rescue squads.... As traffic was STOPPED.... the officers came around to every car and told them that it would be a few minutes... I asked him what happened, and after a little pestering, he finally said "there was some guy in a Camaro and a Nissan, and they were racing on the highway, and we clocked the Camaro at 155, the Nissan at 160... they slammed on their brakes, and the Camaro's tire blew out, and slammed it into the Nissan, they both went into the ditch, they both went up in flames. They're both battered, bruised, and slightly burned, but in stable condition." Granted, I'm probably not the best advocate for safe driving.... but that was certainly a rude awakening. Something to keep in mind next time y'all feel the need to "play" on the highways, or any of the streets for that matter.
